Auntie Em, Auntie Em!

Surf's Up!

It's a twister!
Well, it feels like one, anyway.

The winds are strong this morning; stronger than my coffee; stronger than my will to get dressed and go to the Post Office.
(I will, I will get dressed.)

Things are blowing around outside. Large things. Things that look a lot like Adirondack chairs, and sound like vehicles when they slam into the side of the house.
note to self: pick up outdoor furniture before December. Or November.

Our marine forecast:

Though this is far from the Worst We've Ever Seen, it will likely mean losing power, wet kids and pets (and post office personnel who will be walking), and broken lawn furniture.
No playing with sharp objects, today, kids (and men who play with sharp objects routinely).

Even Lifeflight won't come out here today. We are on our own.

Is it wrong that I enjoy this feeling?

  1. I swear, you're making it increasingly tempting for us to move to your island.

  2. We must both be crazy because it sounds cozy to me - everyone snuggled up in the house with the quiet candle light, knitting, eating, enjoying each others' company in the excitement of "life without electricity"!

  3. Amen!

Wait- what, 'without electricity'?? I NEED electricity!
I'll light the candles, but ol' Genny the generator will be running!!

(I can't see to knit without a bright light anymore. And, I must flush. I must.)
But the quiet, and the snuggling, and the rain pounding the tin roof of the patio, or the dead quiet of falling snow...I'm completely addicted.

  4. Love that picture! Gosh, I think I'd feel just like you. Maybe you need one of them head lamps from LLBean to knit with...I'm thinking of sending hubs to get a few on his trip in a few weeks. Yeah..lucky him gets to go to ME, not me :(
