It's getting to be a trend, so we might as well label it for what it is.

Waaaay back when The Big Guy and I were newlyweds (I know, I can barely remember it myself), we lived Up North. In Maine they call it DownEast.
I called it the End Of The Earth.
We were very close to the Canadian border, on the coast, and would drive to Canada routinely, just because we could. We found this great buffet at a hotel named The Algonquin.
Can I just tell you- click on the link, and then picture The Big Guy and I at this place.
Remember Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation??? How did they ever let us in???

2 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar, plus more for sprinkling tops
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, cold and cut into pieces (3/4 stick)
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/3 cup heavy cream, plus more for brushing tops ( I totally cheated and used canned milk. Cream! I never have cream!)
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
Sift together flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in blueberries and zest.
Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead a few times to mix well.
Pat dough into a 6-inch square about 1 1/4 inches thick.
Cut into four 3-inch squares.
Cut squares in half on the diagonal to form eight triangles.
Transfer to baking sheet. Brush tops with cream and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake until golden brown, 20 to 22 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

The yarn prize for the contest:
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
I have barely knit a stitch for over a month.
It must have been the wool fumes, intoxicating as they were; I was all but slurring in moments.
The contest begins Wednesday morning. It is a very, very difficult contest.
Entries will be based on...um, visiting my blog. Subscribing, to be exact. Following, even.
It's summer. I need you all to be relaxed and knitting, so that I may live vicariously through you.
All I ask is that you continue to share the lovely things you make with me.
Don't tell my husband.
Get a second entry for blogging about the contest. (Come back and tell me about it with a link.)
And a fourth entry for following me on Twitter (Maine Moxie).

It only took three years and one Brother-in-law to get the pool up.

Because, well, why not??

Things have been hopping here on The Rock. We've been in high gear getting the Library straightened out and ready for summer traffic. It's a great space, and I'm happy that there are some willing to volunteer to keep it a happy haven.
